Early Bird Fares For Morzine

Once you've left the bustle of the Geneva motorway behind, you will start the climb up to Morzine. Your transfer driver will take you through some lovely alpine villages, including Taninges, the last big town before the Portes du Soleil resorts.

Passing the turn off to Praz de Lys, you'll soon find yourself in Les Gets and from the windows of the transfer bus you'll spot your first ski lift of the journey! After that it's just a few more kilometres along the road before you arrive in the heart of Morzine. Hard to believe that just a couple of hours ago you were flying into Geneva Airport and now you've arrived in resort in your transfer bus!

Pass'Portes du Soleil - 23-25 June 2017
The magic world of mountain biking returns to Morzine and the whole of the Portes du Soleil area this summer. Packages give you everything you need to follow the trails around the mountains, with food, lift passes and route map included. There are also workshops, gear test village and events too. There’s a Kids’ Pass'Portes and even a Pedestrian Pass’Portes, so little ones and walkers alike can benefit from the event. Always a favourite to open the summer season.

Spartan Race - 1-2 July 2017
Mud running in Morzine! After the success of the inaugural race in 2016, the Spartan Race is back to seek out more gung-ho gladiators capable of conquering the obstacles. Four different courses will weave in and around Morzine, with the start & finish line at the Palais des Sports. Watch out for the Ultra Beast - 42km and 50 obstacles!

Harley Days - 13-16 July 2017
Big, noisy American motorbikes everywhere! That’s what attracts thousands of bikers every year to this huge Harley motorcycle event in Morzine and Avoriaz. A full programme of activities and entertainment includes guided tours, bike show, concerts, bike tests and a whole lot more. Grab your leathers and hop on your two wheeler for the weekend of fun.

Morzine at the Beach - 26/27 July & 9/10 August 2017
Join in all the seaside fun when Morzine installs its very own beach area. With sand everywhere, kids will absolutely love all the games and toys. Perhaps try the construction park kitted out with miniature sized wooden tools from wheel barrows to cranes? Let your little ones build away in utter bliss and just generally enjoy all the free summertime fun.

Trails des Hauts Forts - 12 August 2017
Trail running around the stunning peaks of the Hauts Forts, the highest points in the Chablis region. There are two races, each beginning at Morzine and ending in Avoriaz, with lots of mountain running in between. Choose from a 55 or 24km race and run your away around the mountains, rather than take the lifts!

The 69th Mont Blanc Rally - 31 Aug-2 Sept 2017
Standby for the screeching of tyres, the crackling of the exhaust and the sheer acceleration around those tight mountain hairpins. It might not be the most ecologically-sound sport, but a thrilling rally race is hard to resist. Morzine will be hosting special stages around the resort as by the Cote d’Arbroz.

Morzine Market - every Wednesday
Cheese, fruit, veg, meat, fish and a whole lot more will be on sale every Wednesday in the Place de la Poste in Morzine. The market is great to visit as it gives you a real taste of everyday French life. It's on from 08:00 to 12:30 and runs all year round.

It's worth remembering that being as popular as it is, Morzine lacks car parking, especially at peak times in the winter season such as Christmas, New Year and the February school holidays. Unless your accommodation offers private parking spaces, expect to pay for a space that might also mean a fair walk back to where you're staying, as most car parks are on the periphery of Morzine resort.

All this is why we suggest taking a transfer from the airport in Geneva straight to Morzine would be the best option for a stress-free holiday and often the best value too, especially if there's a group of you that can get together to reserve a private transfer bus.

Morzine Destination Guide 

Welcome To Morzine! 

Morzine village is spread out along two sides of a valley, with a mix of modern areas and the old village centre. Lifts run from both sides for skiing and boarding in winter and for mountain biking and walkers in the summer, making it the perfect all year round resort for active types.

The skiing in Morzine and neighbouring Les Gets is excellent for getting your 'ski legs' and once you've found them, head over to sister resort Avoriaz, where you can find more challenging skiing and then explore the whole of the vast Portes du Soleil area that stretches across France and Switzerland. In a week of skiing you could easily do different pistes every single day!

In summer, Morzine is one of the best renowned areas for mountain biking in the French Alps. The resort is totally geared up for bikers in the summer months, with easy to use lifts to take your bike up, good value lift passes and even jet washers to hose down your bike at the end of the a good day of riding.

With over 650km of mountain bike trails plus freestyle and dirt parks, it's paradise on two wheels around these parts. Mountain Drop-offs is also totally geared up to summer in Morzine, with all transfer buses operating out of Geneva Airport offering bike carriage (please book this service in advance).

Back at resort level, Morzine has long been a favourite destination for British holidaymakers who'll feel at home in the many English-owned bars and restaurants in town. Dotty's Coffee House does a great latte, whilst it's all very cool and hip down at Beanie's Ski Shop and Coffee Bar. There's even Berits and Brown, a very posh deli and cafe which has opened its doors in Morzine.

If, of course, you'd prefer to be immerse yourself in local life, there are lots of restaurants and bars offering Savoyard fayre - think a raclette with local reblochon cheese followed by a quick Genepy digestif or full strength Mutzig after a hard day's biking at the legendary Robinson's bar.

As you can probably tell, out of all the Portes du Soleil resorts, Morzine has the most vibrant apres-ski and night life. The Bec Jaune microbrewery is a great place to start and then there are loads of popular bars to try late into the night, including the Tibetan Cafe and Cavern Bar, before perhaps venturing into L'Opera night club - but be warned, it often doesn't get going until well after midnight!

And with so much apres-ski and partying on offer in Morzine, we can highly recommend abandoning the idea of a hire car from the airport. After all, who wants to wake up feeling a little 'tired and emotional' and having to dig out of the car and then drive all the way back to Geneva - much easier to let the transfer bus take the strain all the way from Morzine to departures!
