Get a transfer from Geneva Airport to Avoriaz and be rewarded with the most stunning views of your resort as you drive up to it!
Please note: Avoriaz is a snow-sure, high-altitude, purpose-built resort at 1800m, with a narrow, multi-hairpin access road, much of which is above 1660m, so if the snow/weather conditions are severe on your transfer day, Mountain Drop-offs may have to find safer solutions to get you to or back from resort, namely the Prodains cable car.
Book Avoriaz Early To Save
Avoriaz is a snow paradise thanks to being a completely car-free resort. That does mean that transfers go no further than the Accueil Entree Station (Welcome Centre) in the Falaise sector of resort, but that also means your holiday starts with a horse-drawn sleigh ride, piste-basher bus trip or even a walk (luggage sledges available) through all that lovely snow to your accommodation. Surely the best way to start your ski holiday?

Leaving Geneva Airport you head straight onto the main A40 motorway. Once you've turned off, your transfer bus starts the climb into the Portes du Soleil area and you pass first through Les Gets before crossing Morzine and then attacking the series of switchbacks to take you to Avoriaz.
This is where you get the feeling you are heading to another world. It's a pretty amazing road that could be the backdrop to a Top Gear segment. What's more, it's a cul de sac, as the road only leads to Avoriaz, so everyone on this route is going to the same place!
And although we mainly know Avoriaz as a winter resort, Mountain Drop-offs also offers private transfers from Geneva Airport and train station to Avoriaz in the summer too. In winter there are shared, private and VIP transfers offered to resort.
Your journey time from Geneva to Avoriaz (and vice versa Avoriaz to Geneva) will be around two hours, depending on traffic and road conditions.
You could alternatively take a more economical transfer to nearby Morzine, booking your drop off at the Prodains Cable Car, which will whisk you up to Avoriaz in four minutes (please see further transport details below in 'Ski in, Ski out').

Ski In, Ski out!
Being 100% ski-in/ski-out and totally car-free, Avoriaz is unique. This purpose-built resort has we what we'd call 'Marmite' architecture - either you love it, or hate it - but no-one can deny that the resort is totally geared up for visitors.
Taking a transfer from Geneva is a good option for getting to Avoriaz, as if you drive to resort, you'll have to make sure you have snow chains in case of bad weather and when you get up to the 1800m plateau where Avoriaz lies, you have to pay to leave the car in car park for the duration of your holiday. It's upwards of 85€ for the undercover parking and less for the outdoor, but be prepared to dig out your car from under a couple of metres of the white stuff if it's snowed all week!
Being car-free means that all transfer companies only go as far as the Accueil Entree Station (Welcome Centre) that is at the entrance to the Avoriaz. If you’re in the Amara residence, you will be dropped off right next to the building, otherwise, the main pick up and drop off point is the Welcome Centre.
From here you you have several options for getting you, your family and your luggage to your accommodation door. And there’s no need to worry about organising all this, Avoriaz’s welcome area is staffed 24hrs a day, seven days a week in the main winter season and will point you in the right direction with their organised transport services.
If you’re walking to your accommodation, luggage sledges are available. They work just like a supermarket shopping trolley, with a 1 euro coin and there are drop off points all around resort. There are also horse-drawn sleighs and ‘piste basher shuttles’ with a journey costing between 5 and 14 euros per seat (baggage 3 euros), depending on the distance.
Mountain Drop-offs transfers can also drop you at the Prodains cable car, before the 20 hairpin road up to resort, which offers swift and easy access for the accommodation in the lower parts of the resort such as Hauts-Forts, Dromonts and Ruches areas.
The lift gets you into the Hauts Forts sector of resort and again there are luggage sledges and horse or piste basher shuttles available. So check whereabouts in resort you are and see whether you should book Prodains, rather than the Welcome Centre.
Please note, the Prodains lift is also where Mountain Drop-offs transfers to the Avoriaz Welcome Centre are diverted to on the rare occasion that it is deemed safer than travelling by road to resort.
You should also check your expected arrival time with the lift running times. For example, in the main 2016 winter season the cable car runs from 07:00-21:00 during the week (but note it stops every day between 19:30 and 19:55), until midnight on Friday and Saturdays and to 22:00 on Sundays. If you already have a valid Avoriaz or Portes de Soleil lift pass you can use this, or you can buy a single ticket (8€60) or buy your pass for the week at the bottom of the lift.

* Sun yourself on one of the resort's fabulous terraces. We love Le Yeti for it's central position and being kid-friendly, the Changabang for serving up the best burgers and curly fries and Chez Flo for the best views of the summits.
* Head to the village of Les Lindarets. In winter this is a great place to ski to for lunch, with several restaurants in a cluster at the bottom of the bowl including Mamo's, Les Rhodos, La Terrasse, Le Petit Lindaret and a little further down, Les Marmottes. In summer, this is the 'village of the goats' and a superb spot for lunch after a hike.
* Go dog sledding. Kids and adults all love meeting these gorgeous fluffy Alaskan Malamute dogs who love nothing better than to pull you along in a sleigh. Rides are 15 or 30 minutes and are suitable from the age of one. Meet and greet with the dogs (and their musher Didier) at the Place des Dromonts every Monday from 17:30, rides available all week.
* Winter or summer, go mountain biking. In winter you bike down the pistes of Avoriaz after the lifts have closed, with a snow scooter ride or lift ride back up. The bike and all the protection gear is included. In summer, Rustine mountain biking school goes full time with a whole host of courses and workshops. Don't forget, bike carriage can easily be arranged with Mountain Drop-offs on transfers from Geneva Airport to sumemrtime Avoriaz too!
One leisure facility we must mention is Aquariaz. Open in both winter and summer seasons, it's billed as a tropical oasis with over 1500 plants and more than 180 trees, all landscaped around a fabulous indoor pool. In reality, it's a water park totally geared up for kids with a climbing wall, a ridiculously scary half-pipe you ride in a rubber ring and a lazy river. Outside there's a huge jacuzzi where parents can chill out and watch the chair lift whirring past overhead. And make sure you try the 'body drier' on your way out!
